The IEEE Sensors Council Collaboration and Engagement Committee actively drives the IEEE Charter of fostering technological excellence for the benefit of humanity. By prioritizing a culture that welcomes and rewards contributors from all personal, cultural, and disciplinary backgrounds, the Council ensures that innovation is fueled by a global perspective.
Support for Global Talent
The Collaboration and Engagement Committee strengthens IEEE Sensors Council engagement with IEEE members through the "Support for Global Talent" The program transforms policy into action by:
By lowering barriers to entry, the Council ensures the global sensors community remains at the forefront of technical advancement and professional collaboration.
The funding will be used in a number of ways to support researchers globally.
A travel grant scheme supports early career researchers (Young Professionals and PhD students) to attend the various IEEE Sensors Council conferences. A few grants of $1,000 will be available each year, on reimbursement basis, for Travel costs.
Authors who have difficulty in paying Article Processing Charge (APC) and who have a paper accepted for publication in IEEE Sensors Council Journals can apply for a grant to support publishing their research as Open Access. As only a few grants will be available each year covering the Open Access publishing fee, authors must provide a strong and convincing justification for APC fee waiver. Please note that this does not support excess page charges of accepted papers.
The New Initiative will support hosting local events. While we will encourage the development of virtual and hybrid events to reduce costs and ensure events can be accessible to as many as possible, we will support hosting local events particularly where there is a clear demonstration of sensors activity in the area and a chapter formation could be possible. Up to $5,000 will be available to support such events.
